Discover Carolina – Shopping and Cultural Mecca

Just a ten minute drive from San Juan, Carolina is a sun filled city with much to offer. The city has several native names and was originally called Trujillo Bajo when it was founded in 1857. Later Don Gaspar Martínez, who donated a sizable piece of land for the municipality, requested that the town be renamed after his daughter, Carolina de San Juan. From that time forward the city has always been known as Carolina.

Though the city is sometimes called the industrial capital of Puerto Rico, there is much to do in and around Carolina that has nothing to do with its industrial activities. Whether you want to relax away years of tension or celebrate in a big way, Carolina offers you a diverse range of activities to suit your demands.

Your typical stay in Carolina might start with a visit to some of the local Shopping malls. Once you have spent some of your hard earned cash, you may wish to head towards the warm, sunny beaches to soak up some sun. Or you may prefer to relax at one of the local spas. If you crave physical activities, there is a range of sporting and outdoor activities to choose from – including tennis and hiking. You may also consider visiting one or two of the many cultural heritage museums or art galleries, or perhaps you’d prefer to while away some time at a garden plaza. Carolina also hosts a lot of festivals which are well worth a visit if you’re in the area at the time. Most of the festivals are lively and musically orientated.

After the sun sets in a rainbow of colors, you can settle down to a scrumptious meal at one of the many restaurants or grills. If you still have energy left after all that, you could head towards any of the vibrant night clubs for a night of dancing and fun.
