San Juan InterContinental Resort & Casino in Isla Verde
Azure water gently washing up on wide open stretches of sandy beach, the sun overhead, palm trees swaying in the breeze, strolling barefoot along the waterline leaving your footprints in the wet sand – this is what a holiday in Puerto Rico is all about. Guests at the InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino, located on San Juan’s most popular beach, Isla Verde, can be assured of all the elements making up this idyllic scene – and so much more.
The InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino was designed by the renowned architect Morris Lapidus – a man who made his mark on the world, particularly Miami Beach, with his flamboyant style of architecture, characterized by its sweeping and dramatic curves. This eye-catching hotel, which was extensively renovated in 2007, overlooks the ocean and the picturesque Isla Verde beach.
The hotel has more than 800 guest rooms, suites, single and double bedded rooms, as well as executive suites. Rooms are fitted with cable television, mini refrigerators and coffee makers, with other equipment and services available on demand. The facilities and services available in the resort include a beauty salon, fitness center, gift shop, convenience store and outdoor pool. Services to care for business and other practicalities include foreign currency exchange, wireless internet access and a business center offering copying, courier service, email, internet access, computers, printer and fax.
The resort’s Alfredo Restaurant is a small slice of Italy in Puerto Rico. With genuine Italian cuisine and décor to match, guests can be forgiven for thinking they are in Italy when they dine at Alfredo Restaurant. At this small slice of Italy in Puerto Rico it comes as no surprise that the specialty dish is Fettuccini Alfredo – a rich parmesan cream sauce with a hint of garlic, served over traditional Italian fettuccini. Take a trip to the Far East at Momoyama, where traditional Japanese cuisine is cooked to order at teppanyaki tables – an art of cooking with a 200 year-old history. Watch your chef expertly prepare your meal from a choice of ingredients which typically include beef, shrimp, lobster, scallops and chicken, along with an assortment of vegetables. Or head off to the Mediterranean at Ciao Mediterranean to savor the flavors of Spain, Morocco, Greece and other distinctive Mediterranean cuisine.
Guests enjoying the hotel pool will appreciate the Splash Bar & Grill which features a swim up bar for the convenience of those who are making most of relaxing in the sparkling water. The I Bar offers an unusual selection of tropical cocktails in an atmosphere of elegance, or enjoy a cocktail and some Italian Antipasti at the Ottanta piano bar.
Some of the suggested attractions to visit while staying at the InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino include historic Old San Juan, El Yunque Rain Forest, Plaza Las Americas Shopping Mall, Bacardi Rum Factory and the Puerto Rico Art Museum. Make the most of your holiday in Puerto Rico!
The Intercontinental San Juan Resort and Casino – A Luxury Hotel with Stunning Ocean Views
It is located at the heart of the resort on a sweeping street of sandstone buildings. The hotel was designed by one of the most influential and successful architects in the world – the renowned architect Morris Lapidus – who has a long reputation in the industry.
Lapidus is known for his innovative use of color to convey information about the environment, especially the climate. His use of light and shade to evoke the surrounding environment was used in his most famous projects. Most famous are Miami’s Coral Reef Resort and Atlantis Club and The Atlantis, at Disney World.
The hotel includes 6 luxury restaurants at the hotel’s most convenient location with panoramic views, which are connected by the resort’s most exclusive bar, Tiki Room. Guests at the InterContinental can enjoy a great selection of premium cocktails, beers, and tequilas.
In addition, the resort also features swimming pools, heated outdoor pools, a spectacular helipad, an outdoor amphitheater, and a swimming area for the public. The outdoor theatre is inspired by the American classic film The Great Mouse Detective. The amphitheater features an area that can be used as a stage and features a series of slides that will mimic a scene from the film. Another prominent feature in the resort is the famous indoor-outdoor pool-deck, which runs along the street, and is one of the most beautiful in the world. It has been designed to evoke the feeling of calm on a summer’s day; it consists of two large glass slats and three white fins that create a natural flow on the water. The pool is part of the outdoor pavilion, which is also illuminated by an overhead light, creating a soothing atmosphere.
The property features several high-end bars and three large restaurants. The hotel also features fitness facilities and retail shops. Included in the price of the property, guests can enjoy access to the beach via the helipad, which can accommodate up to 14 people – it is the largest and has a capacity that is double that of the resort’s swimming pool.
In terms of the exterior of the hotel, the interiors were designed in the same style as the resort’s lobby, but with a modern twist, especially in the form of contemporary hotel design. The hotel provides a unique setting for a variety of activities. Some of them include swimming pools, beach sunbathing, dining rooms, a pool deck, tennis courts, and the poolside terrace with a view of the ocean.
